U.S. SPRINGFIELD, M1816 TYPE II MUSKET, L 42" BBL:"Springfield 1829" stamped on toe of lock plate. "U.S." and Eagle oval armory mark stamped on stock. Right side marked 5 1/2" from butt. Left side marked "SHHSH". Inspector's mark on left side near breech and in front of butt plate strap. "#3" on butt plate strap.
