WEST AFRICAN CARVED WOOD & IRON CEREMONIAL AXE, C. 1920, H 24 3/4", YAM FESTIVAL:The wood handle is carved with the face of a man having antelope horns, etched with birds and other motifs, bisected by a metal blade, probably iron, displayed on a separate acrylic base. Measures L.24 3/4", W.26" overall; base H.7/8". Provenance: Purchased from Barclay's of Ann Arbor, November 1992.
