AFRICAN CARVED WOOD MASK, H 27", W 6":Elongated facial structure with protruding forehead and mouth. Stylized, idealized facial features include two large, closed eyes; an elongated nose; and resting mouth. Wood incised to emulate hair at top of head, and along face with scarification marks of a particular tribe. Mask enhanced with large "superstructure" in shape of a bird eating a fish protruding from the top of the head and triangular border around face.
