After the 16th c. altarpiece currently in the Uffizi, Florence. Depicting the Virgin and Child flanked by putti angels and Saint Bonaventure and John the Evangelist. (Saint Bonaventure or Francis and John the Evangelist). Prior to its restoration in the 1980's, the verso of this canvas purports the artist to be Angelo Manbriani (Italian 1877-1968) of Florence. In an early 20th c. gold leaf frame. Provenance: From the Grosse Pointe Memorial Church, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI collection. Sold to benefit the church.

Condition

Expertly conserved and re-lined, Original stretcher and, likely, frame. Two small "L' shaped canvas repairs to the left of the Madonna's face.
