Gifted to Laurence Eli Schmeckebier upon completion of Dr. Schmeckebier's biography of John Stuart Curry: "John Steuart Curry's Pageant of America". By descent to his son, Peter Schmeckebier. Laurence Schmeckebier (1906-1984) was an art historian, educator, administrator, and sculptor in Syracuse, New York and Cleveland, Ohio. His archives are currently held in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution.
Condition
Hinge mounted in the upper corners with remnants of a previous mounting on the verso. Vertical and horizontal creases through the center of the image. Pin holes in the corners of the paper (hidden by the matting). Overall very good condition.
