Removed from its original context, the exact form of this mask is difficult to know. The horns above the forehead and above the mouth of this mask, with protruding eyes and a fierce red mouth, suggest that it could be a mask embodying Bugle, who in the past has led men into battle. Provenance: Property from a Bloomfield Township, MI private collection.

Condition

Thick patina to mask. Loss to white pigment on the horn on the right side of the forehead, and losses to pigment on both horns above the mouth. Possible additions to mask (noted by nails on right side of eye) appear to have been lost. | Please note all lots show signs of wear commensurate with age and use, and the lack of a statement regarding condition does not imply the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from defects or the effects of aging.
