Lydia Field Emmett was an American portrait artist who studied under William Merritt Chase at the Art Students League and later became an instructor at Chase's Shinnecock Summer School of Art on Long Island. Lowrie Sage was a resident of Oyster Bay and married W. Allston Flagg, an investment banker, former governor of the New York Stock Exchange, and a partner in the brokerage firm of Post & Flagg. He served in WWI as submarine chaser commander in WWI and as a Lt. Commander in WWII. Alexander Gallery Label on verso, 942 Madison Ave, N.Y.
