A late 18th century or 19th century Italian oil on canvas. Depicting a putto with an upward gaze on a winding road, grasping a bread tray. A resembling detail from Raffaelo Sanzio da Urbino Raphael's Umbrian masterwork, "Madonna De Foligno" (c. 1511-1512). Unsigned. Unframed. Provenance: a Jackson, Michigan estate.
When viewed under UV light, areas of restoration and inpainting were observed to all quadrants (most notable upper right and upper left quadrants). With edge wear and associated losses along the extreme perimeter edges. Original canvas is trimmed and laid to 19th century canvas on stretcher. Please note all lots show signs of wear commensurate with age and use, and the lack of a statement regarding condition does not imply the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from defects or the effects of aging.
