MEISSEN PORCELAIN ALLEGORICAL FIGURES, LATE 19TH C., FOUR, H 9"-9 1/2", 'THE FOUR SEASONS':A set of 4 figures modeled as male and female allegories of Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter, hand painted and raised on a scroll-molded base; each is marked in blue underglaze with blue crossed swords, incised numerals 2730, 2724, 2732, and 2731, respectively (see additional photo). From the collection of Dr. Marion Scott and Ann Scott, Grosse Pointe Shores.

Condition

Chipped leaf to the stem held in the left hand of Spring; the object in Summer's right hand is damaged, also chips to the sheaf; very small chips to the grapevine crown worn by Autumn; and a small and minor chip to the rim of Winter's base. Summer has approx. 7 chips to the wheat sheaf.  Fall has approx. 6 small chips to the grapevine crown.  Spring  has a couple of chipped leaves on the Roses in the vase.
