Having 7-groove rifling, marked at the lock 'Remington's Ilion, N.Y.', 1863, with U.S. under an eagle. Barrel marked 1863, 'VP' over an eagle head and STEEL R.K.A. at the left side. Walnut stock bearing inspection stamps of 'HDJ' and what appears to read 'BH'. Brass trigger guard, patch box (containing two extra nipples), butt plate, barrel bands and end cap. Two leaf flip-up rear sight, blade front sight and right side bayonet lug. Provenance: Property of a Grand Rapids, MI private collector.
