SENATOR THOMAS H. BENTON, HAND WRITTEN AND SIGNED LETTER, DATED OCTOBER 31, 1839:Senator Thomas H. Benton hand written and signed 'Free Franked' letter to John Law (receiver of the land office at Vincennes, Indiana), dated October 31, 1839. Thomas Benton was the aid de camp to General Andrew Jackson in the War of 1812 and infamous for shooting Jackson in a duel for which Jackson carried the embedded bullet for many years. Letter in regards to the "Salt Movement". Unframed.
