TRANSFER-DECORATED STAFFORDSHIRE POTTERY GROUP, 5 PIECES, HUDSON RIVER VIEWS:A group of five transfer-decorated Staffordshire pottery pieces. English, 19th century. With five pieces total, comprising three pieces manufactured by Ralph and James Clews, and two pieces manufactured by J. & J. Jackson. The Clews pieces include: a brown soup plate depicting "Near Fishkill, Hudson River", Dia. 10 ½", a black plate depicting "Near Hudson, Hudson River", Dia 8 ¾", and a brown plate depicting "Baker’s Falls, Hudson River", Dia 9". The Jackson pieces include: a black gravy tureen depicting "Fort Ticonderoga" with "Harvard" depicted on lid, height 7 ½", and a black pitcher depicting "Schenectady on the Mohawk", height 7 ½".

Condition

The plates with surface wear, some minor loss to transfer-decorations, isolated instances of discoloration, and some minor chips to rim. The plates also show varying degrees of surface scratches. The pitcher with minor firing imperfections and grime deposits to the interior. The pitcher's exterior with isolated small spots of brown discoloration, a few pin-hole sized losses to the transfer-decoration, and dark discoloration in isolated spots around foot.
