Manufactured in 1864 for the U.S. Ordnance Department by the firm of Henry Mansfield and Estus Lamb of Rhode Island. Ricasso marked "U.S. C.E.W. 2 1864" and "Mansfield & Lamb Forestdale R.I.". The pommel is marked "C.E.W.". Having a wire-wrapped leather grip with a brass guard and leather sword knot. Includes metal scabbard with leather straps and a brass loop.
