GROUP OF TWO CARVED MOTHER-OF-PEARL BOXES, L TO 2 7/8":Comprising: (1) French silver and carved mother-of-pearl box, probably 19th century, the rectangular form mother-of-pearl box with silver mounts, surface carved, the top depicting two ladies and one gentleman in a pastoral setting, small carved panels to sides, with French Minerva's stamp to interior lip, interior engraved "Betsy M. Keith / To be kept in the Keith family", height 3/4", length 2 7/8", width 2 5/8"; and (1) carved mother-of-pearl box, probably 19th century, the rounded rectangular box with silver metal mounts, surface carved, the top depicting the Crucifixion with the Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalene, carved patterning to sides and bottoms, unmarked, height 1", length 2 3/4", width 2".

Condition

Two small panels of mother-of-pearl missing from the sides of the French box, some nicks and scratches to surface as well. The interior of the box with tarnishing throughout. The mother-of-pearl panels are loose throughout for the unmarked box. The metal frame has also been dented and nicked slightly (MK).   On the unmarked box, the top panel is detached from the metal frame. RB 1-5-17
