MAUREEN WICKE (1916-1998) SILVER, 14KT YELLOW GOLD SURPRISE EGG & MUSIC BOX H 3", DIA 2 1/4":Ethel Maureen Wicke (Canadian-American, 1916-1998). Untitled. Third quarter 20th century. Of ovid form, with a scaled textured exterior, the egg opening to reveal a carousel music box, the top with a ruby insert, opening to reveal a carved amethyst flower on a spring, the whole carousel turns as music plays, with enameled and 14KT yellow gold horses, raised on a base covered in silver, the whole egg raised on a 14kt yellow gold base of a ring of figures. With maker's mark to interior hinge. The whole weighing 263.8 grams.
The exterior with light surface scratching and minor marks, the flower attached to a spring is loose and in delicate condition
