MINTONS PATE-SUR-PATE AND GILT PORCELAIN CACHE POT BY LAWRENCE BIRKS, LATE 19TH C., H 6 3/4", W 9":Acanthus leaf handles at either side, raised on a round foot; gilt B?rainesque decoration just below the rim, ribbon, berry and leaf fronds enclose a blue oval reserve of a putti holding a basket of flowers, the reverse with a floral arrangement. Decorated by Lawrence Birks, monogrammed. Pink globe stamp mark and retailed by 'T. Goode & Co. of London' enclosed in a ribbon. Impressed MINTONS, 2204, and other illegible factory marks (see additional photo). Wear to the gilt rim and crazing to the underside. A small crack noted to the edge of one handle.
