VARIOUS WORLD LITERATURE ANTHOLOGIES, LATE 19TH & EARLY 20TH C. 40 BOOKS:A group of various late 19th and early 20th century anthologies of world literature, including: (9) volumes of The Best of the World's Classics (restricted to prose), Henry Cabot Lodge as Editor in Chief, New York: Funk & Wagnalls Co., 1909, having frontispiece illustrations and light blue cloth boards; (11) volumes of Little Classics, Rossiter Johnson (ed.), Boston: James R. Osgood & Co., 1875, with green cloth boards and stained edges; and the complete set in 20 volumes of The Writings of Mankind, Charles H. Sylvester (ed.), Kansas City: National Headquarters, 1924, with note to each edition reading: "This Material Especially Selected for the Exclusive Use of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority", each with dark blue cloth boards having gilt accented Greek letters, and spines with gilt accents, top edge gilt.

Condition

The Best of the World's Classics: With rubbing to corners and spine, some minor bumping to corners, and tanning to pages. The binding is tight and the text appears clean. Some minor staining to cloth boards, but generally in good condition.  PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE 11 VOLUMES OF "LITTLE CLASICS", NOT 12.
 
Little Classics: With rubbing to corners and spine, some minor bumping to corners, and tanning to pages. Some pages have been drawn on by a previous owner. The binding is tight and the text appears clean.
 
The Writings of Mankind: With minor rubbing to corners and spines throughout. Some minor instances of staining or scratches to text block. Some minor water stains to text block in isolated areas. The hinges are in good condition, the binding appears to be tight, and the text appears clean. There is some tanning to pages. In good used condition (MK).
